How to Transfer Domain Name to another Registrar?

Transferring a domain ownership means changing the domain registrar, there are many reasons why you may need to transfer ownership of a domain name. Whether you sold a domain or organization to someone else, you must follow a process to make it done.

What is a Domain Name Transfer?

A Domain Name transfer is the process of shifting your domain from one registrar to another registrar. You’re telling ICANN the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, that you want an alternative registrar to manage your domain. But to be eligible you must have been with your current registrar for at least 60 Days, it will need to be unlocked. As per ICANN’s Policy on Domain Ownership Transfer.

Step 1 - Unlock Domain

Request unlock domain from current domain registrar to prepare for a domain transfer.

Domain lock is a security layer to prevent unwanted or accidental transferring of the domain without your knowledge; this status may be called "Registrar lock" or "Client Transfer Prohibited" you can lock or unlock your domain by following instruction.

  1. Login to Domain Current Domain Registrar
  2. My Domains or Manage Domains
  3. Click Lock or Unlock in this case, it will need to be unlocked.

 

Step 2 - Authorization Code

Request the Authorization code from current Domain Registrar.

The EPP code, which Domain registrars may refer to as the Authorization or Auth code, is essentially a unique password for the domain, some domain registrar may use different term, like EPP Key, Secret Code or Auth Code. This code is unique to each domain name and is assigned by the registrar at the time of registration.

 

Step 3 - Email Confirmation

To perform the verification, domain registrar will send a confirmation email to the email address that you provided at the time of domain registration or in most cases, a confirmation e-mail for your domain name transfer will be sent to the administrative e-mail address for your domain name. You have between 3 and 15 days to click the link, depending on the operation and the top-level domain. After that time, the link stops working.

Warning

If you don't click the link in the email in the allotted amount of time, ICANN generally requires that we suspend the transfer request or cancel the operation, depending on what you were trying to do.

You can resend the transfer confirmation email to your admin email address at any time.

 

Step 4 - Initiate Domain Name Transfer

Now your domain is ready to be transferred. The transfer itself will be initiated with the Domain registrar, so you'll need to contact them for specific instructions, but here's a general idea of what you'll need to do:

 

  1. Visit portal.way2websoft.net  enter your domain name click on Transfer

 

  1. Begin the domain transfer process according to their instructions.

 

  1. Please provide them with the EPP code you copied from the Transfer EPP tab.

 

  1. Follow any additional steps and/or validation they require.

Step 5 – Transfer Confirmation and login to client area Manage Domain Name

  1. Note: The transfer will go through immediately, though it may take a few minutes (up to an hour) for the Way 2 WebSoft Technologies Private Limited registrar to detect the change.
